Late News! Mark Kerry and his wife Anne have taken over the lovely Milltown House just outside of Dingle. Guests looking for a first-class hostelry and warm hosts couldn't do better. THE CELTIC TRAVELER NEWSLETTER, USA Milltown House, Dingle, on Ireland's west coast is the best value ever ... We got a lovely room with a stunning view, breakfast ... and the expert advice of the owner ... on the life, times and restaurants of Dingle. The breakfast orange juice in the jug was genuinely fresh-squeezed, the jam and the bread were home-made, there was a newly baked apple cake, and everything else, from griddle pancakes with maple syrup to eggs to sausages to bacon, was as good as you could hope for. I had Ballyhea kippers! If you want a far-flung gem, this is it. THE TIMES, LONDON After about an hour drive, we passed a wharf and a small town on our left. Then, on the other side of the river we saw a small light; that was Milltown House. In spite of it being two o'clock in the morning, the landlord Mark gave me a warm welcome. The tea prepared by the landlady Anne wrapped my fatigued body, and I quietly fell asleep. I walked down to the terrace for breakfast. The terrace gave way to a beautiful panoramic view, much more beautiful than any picture I had seen in a photo book. What I imagined to be a river last night actually was a creek; and the tide being on the ebb, the riverbed laid open. In the sky afar, we could still see light pink traces of the morning glow. A typical Irish breakfast serves toasts, bacon, sausages and eggs; but here, in addition to that, they had also prepared hot cakes and omelettes for me. The muffins, butter and jam were handmade by Anne. It was a warm and delicious breakfast prepared with all their heart and kindness. FROM "RAINING ON A FINE SUNNY DAY", "SWITCH" MAGAZINE, JAPAN |
