BANKS |
Bank of Ireland and Allied Irish Bank are both located on Main Street. Opening hours: Monday 10 am to 5 PM; Tuesday to Friday 10 am to 4 PM. We would strongly advise you to NOT buy Euro Cheques as they are not accepted by many businesses and where they are accepted there is a massive charge. Also, do not bring US $100 bills as they can be difficult to change even in banks as seemingly they are one of the most forged bills in Europe and are so well done that smaller banks do not have the equipment to clear them! The most up-and-coming system seems to me to be cash cards as banks, stores, etc., have cash points even in the smallest towns. |

ELECTRICITY |
220 volts, 50 Hz. We can offer you a loan of an adaptor during your stay with us. We would strongly advise you to NOT bring curling tongs to Ireland as they generally burn out (even with a transformer), sometimes shorting electricity in the room where they are being used. This seems to be the only piece of electrical equipment that constantly does this. I believe Ireland at the end of every season has more burnt out US curling tongs than any other piece of burnt out electrical equipment! Tongs can be bought quite inexpensively in Ireland. |
